In a growing landscape of barbecue restaurants in NYC smoking meats over real wood, new restaurant Jax B-B-Q hopes to stand out by smoking its meats right in its 60-seat space in Hell’s Kitchen starting next week.

What’s likely the country’s most luxe outpost of Denny’s apparently couldn’t cut it in New York. Manhattan’s first location of the breakfast diner chain — which was glammed up with leather banquettes and a $300 version of the Grand Slam — has closed after less than three years in FiDi, according to Tribeca Citizen. After years of instability, the TGI Fridays in Union Square has finally closed. The location opened in 2010 at 34 Union Square East, at 16th Street.
