Red Pepper Taqueria in, Jefe’s Tacos & Tequila out in Brookhaven

Mexican restaurant Red Pepper Taqueria is set to open its third metro Atlanta location this March, taking the place of another now-shuttered Mexican spot.

Jefe’s Tacos & Tequila closed its doors yesterday at 705 Town Blvd. in the Town Brookhaven development in Brookhaven.

Jefe’s, from the team behind popular Brookhaven restaurant Kaleidescope, opened in September 2016 and offered a menu of Mexican classics including chile con queso, enchiladas and tacos, as well as 60 different tequilas.

The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, which rebranded as The Whitley in December, has named a new executive chef and provided details about its new restaurant.

Marc Suennemann is managing culinary operations for the 507-room hotel, overseeing the culinary team and overseeing Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Trade Root, which is set to open next month.

Suennemann previously served as the executive chef for the Emory Conference Center Hotel and also served as executive Chef of Sheraton Atlanta and Château Élan in Braselton.

Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria has opened its second metro Atlanta location in the Dunwoody Mall.

The eatery takes over the space vacated by Varasano’s Pizza, which closed in June 2016 after less than a year in business.

The Grant Park location of coffee shop Revelator Coffee Company — formerly Octane — has launched a new South Korean pop-up.

Anju, which means “food consumed with alcohol,” offers a new take on traditional South Korean bar food such as savory pancakes, fish dishes and noodles. Helmed by Seoul native Chef James Murphy, formerly a chef at Kimball House and Gaja, Anju will run indefinitely starting at 6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.

Argosy team purchases former Oak Brewpub in Oakhurst

This morning, Armando Celentano, Donald Durant and Benjamin Rhoades, the partners behind Argosy, a popular beer bar and restaurant in East Atlanta Village, announced that they had purchased the former Oak Brewpub in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur, which closed in November, not long after its grand opening celebration.

Perimeter Mall says goodbye to The Pub

The first time we visited Sushi Itto a couple of years ago, my wife looked over the menu in consternation. “They don’t have Crab Rangoon,” she said, obviously dejected. This metro Atlanta Vietnamese restaurant serves a different sort of pork “bun”

Order a menu item called “bún” in a Vietnamese restaurant and you might be surprised when you receive a large bowl of noodles, meat and pickled vegetables – but trust me, it’s a nice surprise.

Bún, pronounced like “boon,” is the Vietnamese word for white Vermicelli rice noodles. In a more general sense, it refers to the delightful salad of cool noodles, charred meat, pickled vegetables and little treats like grilled shrimp and spring rolls.
