One of the side benefits of The Festival — the expansive international beer tasting presented in Atlanta in August by Shelton Brothers Importers — is the number of rarities that made it to the city for the first time, and even stuck around for a while after the event.

First Look: Miami’s Bulla Gastrobar brings tapas to Midtown

Bulla Gastrobar opened its first Atlanta location in late September in the 12th & Midtown mixed-use development in Midtown, serving dinner nightly and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Touting a “fun communal atmosphere, imaginative cocktail program and contemporary takes on traditional Spanish tapas,” the menu features signature small plates and larger entrees meant for sharing.

Much anticipated and much discussed, Holler & Dash Biscuit House is set open its first Atlanta location at 7 a.m. on Tuesday in the Westside Iron Works adaptive reuse project on Howell Mill Road.

The fast-casual breakfast-lunch-brunch concept from parent company Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. debuted in 2016, and not counting the Atlanta location, it operates four restaurants, between Alabama, Florida and Tennessee, with a Nashville location coming soon.

New Realm Brewing Co., the craft beer project from partners Carey Falcone, Bob Powers and Mitch Steele has revealed more details about its plans for a new brewery, restaurant, rooftop patio and beer garden on Atlanta’s Beltline.

Working toward opening in the fall at 550 Somerset Terrace NE, in the new Common Ground development situated between Ralph McGill Blvd. and North Ave., New Realm hired the Atlanta-based ai3 to help with the design. Construction is being handled by another Atlanta-based company, Choate Construction.

Bob Townsend’s Beer Pick: Second Self Red Hop Rye

As part the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project, a local restaurant and brewery recently teamed up to spread the word on culinary sustainability.

Executive chef Deborah VanTrece of Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours reached out to Second Self Brewing Co. owner Jason Santamaria, who’s also a chef, to collaborate on an Atlanta-based pairing.

The result is VanTrece’s the Burger Wellington, which features beef brisket blended with locally sourced oyster mushrooms, mushroom duxelle and a puff pastry wrap, served with Second Self Red Hop Rye.
