Want a free donut today? Hope you don’t mind waiting.

As many as two dozen people were spotted lining up for free donuts at the Dupont Circle Krispy Kreme (1350 Connecticut Ave. NW) around 9:30 a.m. today. And it’s likely to get crazier later, employees at the store said.

The donut chain is slinging free pastries all day today as part of its National Donut Day promotion. Patrons can visit any Krispy Kreme for a free donut of any variety, the company said in a press release.

Dupont Bar Closed After ‘Heavy’ Vermin Infestation, DOH Says

A D.C. food safety and hygiene inspector closed a bar and eatery in Dupont Circle Tuesday afternoon after finding that the business was “operating a food establishment with gross insanitary occurrence or condition that may endanger public health including but not limited to heavy infestation of vermin.”

Some Place Else, the bar located in the former Townhouse Tavern space at 1637 R St. NW, can’t serve locals “until further notice” because it “presents an imminent health hazard(s) to the public,” according to a notice from the D.C. Department of Health.

The agency didn’t immediately provide any further details about the closure.

Dupont Bar Dirty Martini to Host Free Pig Roast Friday

Locals will be able to go whole hog for free during a pig roast at Dirty Martini later this week.

The bar and lounge at 1223 Connecticut Ave. NW will host a pig roast Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to a Facebook event post.

Bartenders will sling tiki drinks during the event, said bar representative Salaam Mufti. Portions of the roasted pig are free, Mufti said, as long as patrons buy at least one drink. The festivities will also include games of corn hole and “an overall nice BBQ type vibe,” Mufti added.

‘European-Style’ Cafe and Bar to Open in Dupont This Summer

A “European-style cafe and bar” is set to open blocks away from Dupont Circle.

The new business, Emissary, will open in the space below Dupont Circle Yoga (2032 P St. NW) later this summer, according to owner Elias Hengst, who also co-owns Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar and ‎Dupont Circle Yoga.

Emissary will be a “a hospitality-forward cafe that serves as more of a social space for the local community as well as visitors from out-of-town,” according to a job posting on DMV Coffee. The shop’s menu will include food and drinks from Counter Culture Coffee and Trickling Springs Creamery, the listing says.
