The regular caramel sauce has cream while the coconut caramel sauce is vegan. Both are made from organic ingredients and both are luscious and smooth. You can stir them into coffee, use them as ...

The embarrassing backstory on the bee story: A closer, clueless look at a hive

Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution

Ligaya Figueras is all geared up to visit a bee hive until she was informed her veil was on backwards. Oops! Photo by Armani Martin

Journalists accrue valuable knowledge from years covering the same beat. That doesn’t necessarily make them experts, though.

I was reminded of this recently while researching a story on the state of honey bees and the national and local efforts to advocate for pollinators.

I’ve tasted honey. I’ve been stung by bees. I am not, however, a beekeeper.

My lack of knowledge about beekeeping became quite apparent when I tagged along on a beehive inspection with ...

Enter the vegan country fried steak at Argosy in East Atlanta, a dish perfect for hat and ...

The appetizer at this East Atlanta restaurant might just make you forget about your entree

Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution

Sometimes you order a dinner starter so good that you almost forget you still have more food coming.

Such is the case with the Dau Hu Rang Muoi — better known as the salt and pepper tofu — at So Ba Vietnamese restaurant in East Atlanta.

The dish is simple, but its flavors are complex — cubes of firm tofu fried in cornstarch so hot that it creates a light but definitive crunch, accompanied by lightly sauteed onion and hot pepper slices (this isn’t a plate for the spice averse).

But it’s the batter seasoning that really elevates the affair, ...

Did you hear? East Atlanta Village has gotten itself a food hall.

Perhaps you’re picturing gleaming subway tile and pallet walls. Consequently, you might be worrying that this eternally scruffy crossroads just south of I-20 is going to lose its edge.

You’ll stop worrying when you check out the T-shirt worn most days by Q Trinh. She’s both the food hall’s crackling-with-energy matriarch and a chef whose Vietnamese street food has a cult following.

Octopus Bar Shoyu Ramen (aka Do You Really Want to Know About Some Gangsta Shit?)

Octopus Bar Shoyu Ramen (aka Do You Really Want to Know About Some Gangsta Shit?)

I ate it at Octopus Bar after the Outkast concert Saturday night which looked like this (I did take this photo.)

The show was everything I wanted it to be, and they played just about every great song, bass bumping me down memory lane. ATLiens was the first album I wore out in my little Nissan the first time I ever purchased a “system”, and as the whole audience and I sang out nearly every word with 3000 and ...
