Buy This: 3 grape products you need in your life

Fall brings the grape harvest and for the Southeast, that means muscadines. We’re huge fans, loving the flavor. But the seeds and tough skins put a lot of people off. These folks have taken the work out of eating muscadines.

Butterfields Muscadine Grape Buds

Sometimes you just want a tiny taste of something sweet. And when that something sweet tastes like muscadines, all the better. Butterfields Candies in Nashville, North Carolina, makes “Buds,” 1/2-inch long candies in flavors like peach and honeybell. Eating in College Park is an all-chill, no-frills experience. Nothing about this place is contrived. Rather, it’s a refreshing pocket of Atlanta, one filled with people who couldn’t care less about the tragically hip — and overpriced — Inman Quarter, or the glitz and glamour of Buckhead. Here, it is locals, and perhaps airport workers, just looking to fill up.

And you can fill up in College Park — be it over a plate of barbecue (Barbecue Kitchen), takeout from a crab ...

Scofflaw Sneaky Wheat. Credit: Heidi Geldhauser.

Scofflaw Brewing celebrates its one year anniversary at noon on Saturday. And what a year it’s been.

Along the way, there were triumphs, trials and weird moments that appeared unprecedented for a brewery that seemed to suddenly surface out of nowhere.

I latched on to the story early, and probably wrote more about Scofflaw than many readers or rival breweries might consider cool. But I’m a ...

Baseball season is heading toward playoff time, college and pro football are kicking off, and Atlanta is crazy for the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, United FC and Major League Soccer.

For me, anyway, it’s the best time of year to be a sports fan. And it’s the best time to enjoy a well-made pale ale — a venerable British style that American craft brewers made their own with all-American ingredients, most notably the likes of Cascade, Chinook and Centennial hops.

Call it ingenuity or serendipity, but bright, citrusy American pale ales make a perfect match for all the foods we love ...
