Post-Sandy NYC: La Newyorkina Will Re-Open in Red Hook Tomorrow

The High Line: Brisket, Tacos, and Ice Cream Return to The High Line

The seasonal food carts returned to The High Line today. For the most part, the offerings are the same as last year. There are are various ice creams, popsicles, and ice cream sandwiches from L’Arte del Gelato, La New Yorkina, People’s Pops and Melt Bakery, while Blue Bottle returns with coffee and pastries, and the Taco Truck with tacos, tortas, and other Mexican food. Openings: Danny Mena Opens Sembrado, an East Village Taqueria

Sembrado en Nueva York is the new East Village restaurant from Danny Mena of Hecho en Dumbo. The menu focuses mainly on grilled meat tacos known tacos al carbon, but tacos al pastor are also available. Those are made the traditional way, with pork slow-roasted on a spit that can be seen turning, shawarma-style, next to the grill in the open kitchen.
