On March 10, chefs Mario Batali, Gabrielle Hamilton and Wylie Dufresne together with author Bill Buford will be panelists discussing “what we talk about when we talk about being a chef” at The Drawing Center. Peter Meehan will be the moderator, and the event will be hosted by MAD, chef René Redzepi’s not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the restaurant trade. The free form discussion will trace the “evolution of the cooking profession over the past two decades,” and aims to create an “intimate environment and open forum in which the panel and audience can engage” each other.

EaterWire: Intelligentsia’s Coffee Truck; Lucky Peach Goes Solo

intelligentsiatruck.jpg WEST CHELSEA — Intelligentsia Coffee now has a coffee truck. Dubbed the Intelligentsia Mini Bar, it will feature a limited menu of small drinks. The owners of the coffee shop found the 1967 Citroen work truck in the south of France and refurbished it over the summer. For now the truck will be parked in the garden outside The Highline Hotel every day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., but in 2014, the goal is to install a larger, more permanent structure and then have the truck go mobile.
