Shoo Fry Brings Ultimate Late-Night Drunk Food to Fishtown

Philly’s love affair with cheese curds is showing up in Fishtown: The poutine-centric Shoo Fry will open its second location in Fishtown at 200 East Girard Avenue on Thursday.

After testing the Canadian-born concept with a six-month pop-up stint at the King of Prussia Mall in 2013, owners Matt and Rachel Baiada opened Shoo Fry’s permanent location in Rittenhouse last year.

Little Lion Launches Happy Hour

Southern Poutine, exclusively during the Little Lion’s happy hour.

Starting this evening, the Little Lion at 3rd and Chestnut rolls out its happy hour. Among the highlights, southern poutine, which is handcut fries tossed in a dry rub and then topped with pork belly, short rib jus, farmers cheese sauce, fried egg and scallion. To wash that down there are beer wine and cocktail specials.

The Little Lion happy hour runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays throughout the Old City restaurant.

Smoke’s Poutinerie Coming To Philly

The Philadelphia Business Journal is reporting this morning that an authentically Canadian chain called Smoke’s Poutinerie is eyeing a south-of-the-border expansion as part of their “Global Domination Tour” which is pushing for 1,300 new locations around the world and 800(!) in the United States in the next five years. Which is, of course, completely bonkers.

It may be old news for Elephant & Castle regulars. But an Eater reader sent along this fun fact to the tipline: the British-themed pub has an entire poutine section on its menu.

Peruse “The Poutinerie” section on the menu and find the gravy and cheese curd-topped Canadian specialty. There are a number of other topping choices and variations as well, including gravy fries with bacon, “the works,” sweet potato fries and even an Indian-leaning butter chicken poutine.

Lambertville Nitefare: A Food Truck Festival For All
