A Sandy Springs shopping development started the year with the closure of two of its restaurants.

Sports restaurant Dantanna’s and CT Cocina & Taqueria both shuttered recently at Abernathy Square at the corner of Abernathy and Roswell roads, Tomorrow’s News Today first reported.

Cowtippers Steaks & Spirits, a popular restaurant in Ansley Park owned by Metrotainment Cafes, is slated to close at the end of the month.

Metrotainment Cafes still owns the property at 1600 Piedmont Road that Cowtippers calls home, and is “weighing several options including selling the restaurant and property,” CEO Jeff Landau said in a statement. One Rooster Mongolian Bar has closed in West Midtown after less than a year.

The create-your-own stir fry restaurant from Atlanta restaurateur Mike Blum  opened in February 2017 at 1016 Howell Mill Road NW. The space is also the former home of Blum’s previous — and similar — concept, The Real Chow Baby. The closure was first reported by Tomorrow’s News Today.

Argosy team purchases former Oak Brewpub in Oakhurst

This morning, Armando Celentano, Donald Durant and Benjamin Rhoades, the partners behind Argosy, a popular beer bar and restaurant in East Atlanta Village, announced that they had purchased the former Oak Brewpub in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur, which closed in November, not long after its grand opening celebration.

A northwest Atlanta seafood spot has closed its doors after a half century.

Bankhead Seafood has closed at 1651 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy. NW.

A spot for “New American” cuisine has closed its doors in Chamblee.

Union Hill Kitchen, which was located at 5336 Peachtree Road, closed on Dec. 22, Tomorrow’s News Today first reported.

Bantam + Biddy Lenox location to become a Mexican restaurant

Visitors to Lenox Square might do a double take next week when they walk past the Bantam + Biddy space at the Buckhead mall. That’s because business partners Shaun Doty and Lance Grummere are replacing their casual, chicken-centric eatery with a brand new concept: ATL Taco.

Perimeter Mall says goodbye to The Pub

The British pub concept known simply as The Pub will close its doors at Perimeter Mall after service tonight.

The year ended with the closure of two longtime Roswell restaurants.

Greenwood’s on Green Street and barbecue restaurant Swallow at the Hollow both shuttered on Dec. 31.

Dolce Italian closing at Shops Buckhead Atlanta

One of the first restaurant to open in the Shops Buckhead Atlanta development will close its doors by the end of the year.

Dolce Italian, which opened in September 2015 and was the winner of Bravo’s “Best New Restaurant” hosted by Tom Colicchio, will close Dec. 30, according to a press release from John Meadow, founder and president of LDV Hospitality.

After a 10-year run in the community of Serenbe, The Hil is closing. The restaurant’s final day of service will be Dec. 22.

Brookhaven’s PizzaFire closes, plans to reopen with new concept

PizzaFire in Town Brookhaven has closed, but plans to reopen with a new concept and name, Amore Cucina & Bar. The Brookhaven location of PizzaFire, an Ohio-based fast-casual pizza chain, opened in June 2016. As Amore Cucina & Bar, the restaurant plans to switch to a full-service model offering pizza, pasta and salad, as well as weekend brunch.

Corn dog eatery Pallookaville has closed its doors in Avondale Estates.

The restaurant’s management addressed the closure on its Facebook page, with the hint that another business might move into the space at 17 N. Avondale Road:

James Maggard and Jason Hylton bought Pallookaville in early 2016 from former owner Jim Stacy.

Southern-inspired restaurant to replace Italian eatery in Brookhaven

Pasta and pizza will soon give way to Southern favorites in Brookhaven.

Fiorello’s Italian Bistro, which took the place of Brookhaven Provisions in the Brookleigh Marketplace at 3575 Durden Drive NE earlier this year, has closed its doors.

The space has been snapped up by Glenda and Jose Mata who plan to turn it into an “upscale Southern-inspired American restaurant and bar,” according to Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, Inc., who brokered the deal.

Bourbon bar closes in Virginia-Highland after two years

J&J Bourbon Bar has closed its doors after just more than two years in business.

The bourbon bar, which was housed in the former Belly General Store space at 772 North Highland Ave. NE in Virginia-Highland, closed in October, What Now Atlanta reports.

The spot ran into some trouble earlier this year after a failed health inspection, though it later received a passing score.
