Marcel will offer shrimp boullettes, fried frog legs, USDA Prime meat and more for 64-cents beginning at 11 p.m. (drinks available on the patio beginning at 10 p.m.) Friday, Sept. 29. This special dinner price will be an ode to the early 1900s, but the menu, created by executive chef Craig Richards along with chef Stephen Stryjewski of Cochon Butcher, is modern.

This year has seen numerous steakhouses open in and around Atlanta, including Kaiser’s Chophouse in Sandy Springs and C. Ellet’s at The Battery, a concept by restaurateur Linton Hopkins. The latest to join the primal-cut scene is national chain Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, which has announced that it will open a location in Atlanta next year.

Dunwoody residents and office workers have one more nearby dining option: Vintage Pizzeria.

The local, family-owned restaurant, known for New Jersey-style pizza, recently opened a location at 5510 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody Village.

The new location offers two dining areas – one geared toward families, the other for adults. Both sections have a covered outdoor patio.

Besides thin-crust pizza, the Vintage menu includes traditional Italian appetizers, salads and sandwiches.

Salata, a fast-casual salad bar, will open its first Georgia restaurant in Atlantic Station tomorrow. 

The salad bar concept serves customizable salads and lettuce wraps as well as soups. Salata offers more than 50 different topping options including chick peas, kidney beans, beets, almonds and pesto chicken.  Its 10 dressings are made in house, and the chain is gluten-free certified.

Beverage offerings include house-made teas and lemonades, served from taps resembling those used for draft beer.

USA Today named Athens, Ga., one of the South’s most underrated food cities. Athens-based Creature Comforts was one of a handful of destinations cited in the article.

Musician Zac Brown partners with Dahlonega distillery

The nearly year-old Stillhouse Creek Distillery in Dahlonega has rebranded to Z. Brown Distillery in what they are calling a “strategic alliance” with the Grammy award-winning Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band. The distillery, located in Brown’s hometown, is slated to re-open sometime this fall. 

According to the distillery’s social media feeds, Stillhouse Creek which opened its doors to the public last November, quietly entered a partnership with the musician earlier this year. The distillery rebrand (announced last Friday) is generating among Brown’s large fan base on social media.

UPDATED: Hurricane Irma: Which Atlanta restaurants are open or closed?

On Monday, Hurricane Irma will hit Atlanta, and could bring between five and seven inches of rainfall, and high winds reaching more than 60 mph to the metro region, according to forecasters at Channel 2 Action News.

Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency Sunday for all of Georgia’s 159 counties, and metro Atlanta school systems have cancelled classes and postponed events ahead of the massive storm.

While some restaurants are normally closed Mondays, tomorrow’s storm means the closure of restaurants that would otherwise be open.
