America Finally Unites Against a Common Enemy: the New York Times’ ‘Brussels Sprouts Sliders’ Recipe

Source: Grub Street NY

You might recall how the New York Times caused one of 2015’s biggest journalistic scandals when it tweeted out a recipe that unnecessarily called for green peas in guacamole. If Wendy’s New Year’s resolution was to clap back at smart-asses on Twitter, the fast-food chain is off to a good start. It tweeted an otherwise unremarkable reminder back on December 30 that, like plenty of burger chains these days, it serves “fresh, never frozen” beef — a claim most …

The act of opening Twitter each morning brings with it a special set of concerns. Is some dude randomly harassing you? (Likely.) Did Donald Trump get up at four in the morning to write something horrible? (Also likely.) And the worst: Will it end up being some kind of dumb …

Trump’s DC Hotel Hosted a Jobs Q&A on Twitter and Not Even Internet Trolls Were Interested

Source: Washingtonian Food

Will Donald Trump‘s controversial comments about immigrants make it difficult for restaurants in his DC hotel to hire staff? That’s one of the issues at the center of lawsuits between the Trump International Hotel and restaurateurs José Andrés and Geoffrey Zakarian, who backed out of deals to open restaurants there.

“The perception that Mr. Trump’s statements were anti-Hispanic made it very difficult to recruit appropriate staff for a Hispanic restaurant,” Andrés’s lawyers wrote in a complaint, ...

Vina Sananikone

Society Fair’s butcher and self-described “curd nerd,” Justin Owens, is spooning out quenelles of pistachio-studded pâté. He’s placing them onto a butcher’s block adorned with artfully displayed rounds of Genoa ham, ribbony piles of Serrano ham, and triangular pork rillettes. While he creates the charcuterie platter, Vina Sananikone darts around him with her iPhone, trying to snap the perfect picture.

Wearing a carrot-colored sweater over a lace sundress and cowboy boots, she could never be mistaken for a member of the kitchen crew. Rather, she’s actually a multimedia maven—“that’s what it says on my business card,” she says.
