Whole Foods to open free-standing restaurant in Midtown on June 1

On June 1, Whole Foods Market will open free-standing restaurant The Roast adjacent to its location on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown.

Whole Foods Market is about to open its first ever free-standing restaurant. And it happens to be in Atlanta.

Called The Roast, the 48-seat eatery sits adjacent to the store’s renovated and expanded location at 650 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown. It opens to the public June 1.

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., The Roast will be a fast-casual eatery focused on churrasco, Brazilian-style grilled meat.

DC-Made Cider Is Now Available at Whole Foods

You don’t have to pull up a bar stool to get a taste of DC’s first cider house, Anxo Cidery & Pintxos Bar, which opened this summer in Shaw. Beginning today, Anxo’s creations will be available at four Washington-area Whole Foods (Glover Park, Foggy Bottom, P Street, Tenleytown) for $19.99 per bottle.

The cidery plans to expand its retail distribution even further with the opening of a second production facility and tasting room at 711 Kennedy St., Northwest in Brightwood Park early next year. That location will be open to the public three days a week with a 30-seat bar.
